Out of the genuine need for affordable healthcare, RxCopay was established back in 2017. A lot of individuals are struggling to meet their medication needs due to the high cost of healthcare within the country. Acknowledging this problem, we made ways to help patients meet their copay obligations for prescription drugs and medical equipment.
Our Story
If you had to choose between feeding your family or filling a medication prescription, which would you choose?
RxCopay’s founding member, a pharmacist saw firsthand, patients picking and choosing which ailment to treat because of their financial limitations.
As a pharmacist, he knew that these decisions could be life and death choices. With roughly 27% of the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) population living below the poverty line and 38% uninsured, Pharmacies, Hospitals and Doctor’s offices are faced with the challenge of absorbing healthcare costs or turning patients away.
Rather than sit idly by, our founding member formulated a plan to financially assist patients with their medication co-pays, deductibles and medical equipment; through his efforts, RxCopay was founded in 2017.
About RxCopay
After a Rio Grande Valley (RGV), Texas pharmacist saw families unable to meet deductibles and copay requirements, RxCopay was founded in 2017 to offer financial relief, increase medication adherence and provide free education through medication administration.
RxCopay is a registered 501(c)(3) in the RGV with a focus on positively impacting the youth, elderly and homeless populations.
Our Goal
Supporting our community is of utmost importance. We are out to improve healthcare outcomes through education and medication therapy management, health education, and financial assistance. Taking medications for chronic disease states, and for whatever reason, you are unable to afford the cost of these medications or the co-pays mandated by your insurance company, you forced to stop or pick and chose which of the medicines to take due to financial constraints, which could have disastrous consequences, including early death.
PBMs are mostly cost-conscious rather than clinical, and this has caused reduced office visits and lower prescription drug adherence, with an increase in emergency room expenses and many cases, largely unreported catastrophic events, such as death among many others. Policies and political directors largely focus on monetary cost than human value. One of the key issues affecting adherence is cost, as well as the patient’s ability to meet co-pay obligations and or direct cost obligation.
We are here to help patients live a happy and longer life by assisting with their medication costs.
